Hand Osteoarthritis
Hand osteoarthritis (OA) can cause several symptoms that may suggest the need for treatment like hand embolization. Common signs include pain at the base of the thumb, especially when gripping or doing tasks that require fine motor skills; swelling and stiffness in the hand or thumb, particularly in the morning or after activity; and difficulty moving the fingers or thumb, making it hard to grasp or handle objects. You may also feel a grinding or clicking sensation in the joints or notice visible bumps or deformities at the joints of your fingers or thumbs.

A Non-Surgical Approach for Treating Hand Pain
What is Hand Embolization?
Hand embolization is a minimally invasive interventional radiology procedure performed under local anesthesia to treat osteoarthritis in the hand. Procedure typically takes 15-20 minutes and works to reduce pain and swelling in the fingers. During the procedure, a tiny needle is inserted into the artery of the wrist. Embolic crystals will be infused into the hand to normalize blood flow to the inflamed joints, thus reducing inflammation and pain.

Our Patient’s Testimonials
What our patients are saying about us
“As a referring provider I have been thrilled to discover MY AIM. They provide services quickly and I send patients here knowing with confidence that they will be provided excellent care and education. I have had great patient success for embolization of pelvic congestion and fibroids. This is a great option for women who are not good surgical candidates, or who desire to preserve their uterus and avoid major surgery.”
Blake Higley
“Highly skilled physicians providing a much needed alternative to treatment of common ailments that are still being treated with very invasive and risky procedures. I have been sending my patients with enlarged prostates with obstructive symptoms and the results have been very satisfying with no negative side effects or serious complications. Results are very comparable to surgical outcomes without the risks.”
Arneyo Perez M.D.
“I had PAE done here. All the staff and the doctors are excellent, friendly, caring, professional. I felt like I was in good hands the whole time.”
